Top 10 Best Minimalist PC Cases in 2024

minimalist pc case

As a long-time gamer who has built every PC I’ve owned over the last 20 years, there’s nothing like a simple, minimalist case.

Minimalist PC cases have a simple yet attractive design, that lacks some of the futuristic or ‘edgy’ looks that some other cases have, having a more discrete and sober appearance, but still fulfilling all the main functions you’d expect from a good computer case.

First I’ll show you a selection of some of the best minimalist computer cases available that I’ve found, and then we’re going to talk about product characteristics you should take into account before buying the right case for your computer.

NZXT H510 Flow - CA-H52FB-01 - Compact ATX Mid-Tower PC Gaming Case - Perforated Front Panel - Tempered Glass Side Panel - Cable Management System - Water-Cooling Ready - Black

The Bad

  • Complicated wiring

This NZXT computer case has a very clean and modern design and stands out with the help of a sophisticated airflow system.

The case has two Aer F 120mm fans that operate smoothly and successfully keep all main components at safe temperatures. You also have a USB 3.1 compatible USB-C port on the front panel, facilitating connection with the most modern smartphones.

The sharp and clean design it’s available in three different color patterns: all black, black and white, and black and red (the latter being a bit more expensive). There’s also a tempered glass side panel, which provides a futuristic feel to the case, and enables you to see what’s going on inside at any time.

The product also comes with its own patented cable routing kit, that seeks to facilitate the wiring process.

However, while some buyers claim that cable management it’s indeed helpful, others state the case that it should be majorly improved. That are reports of confusing installation experiences, with a wiring system that is actually not intuitive at all, prolonging the setup. Could be, perhaps, more of a quality control matter to be taken care of by NZXT.

2) Corsair 5000D Tempered Glass ATX PC Case

Corsair 5000D Tempered Glass Mid-Tower ATX PC Case - Black

The Good

  • Two 120mm fans included
  • Space for up to ten 120mm fans
  • Compatible with motherboards of size ATX or smaller
  • Good cabling system

The Bad

  • A bit noisy

This Corsair case stands out mainly for the amount of room available, which allows the installation of extra SSDs and HDDs, and facilitates the airflow process tremendously.

The case has room for up to ten 120mm fans (two are already included). Exclusively to the motherboard, you can side-mount up to three 120mm fans or just one big 360mm radiator, if you prefer.

The front panel is made out of solid steel and the side one’s made out of tempered glass, with both being very easy to open if any inside changes are required.

The cable management system is favored by the quantity of room available. The space allows for cables to move from one place to the other inside the case with extreme ease.

Complaints are hard to be found regarding this product, but some buyers mention that the cooling system could be a bit less noisy.

3) Corsair Carbide Series 175R RGB Tempered Glass ATX Case

Corsair Carbide Series 175R RGB Tempered Glass Mid-Tower ATX Gaming Case - Black

The Good

  • One RGB 120mm fan included
  • Six customizable RGB LEDs
  • Compatible with motherboards of size ATX or smaller
  • Fits up to six 120mm fans
  • PSU cover

The Bad

  • Airflow could be better

The second Corsair option on the list, this case comes along with cool RGB design features and good space.

The design is very simplistic and modern. Included, we have one RGB 120mm fan and six customizable RGB LEDs that you’re free to configure to your liking. And, of course, you have a tempered glass side panel to show off these nice colors.

There’s enough room to fit up to six 120mm fans or four 140mm ones, and also a PSU cover that keeps cables out of sight, helping a lot with organization and providing a cleaner look.

Some complaints can be found regarding the case’s airflow capacity, claiming it can get heated easily. We’d recommend giving priority to the installation of fans inside of it, especially if you play games that demand a lot from your computer.

4) Cooler Master MasterBox NR400 Micro-ATX

Cooler Master MasterBox NR400 Micro-ATX Tower with Front Mesh Ventilation, Minimal Design, Tempered Glass Side Panel and Single Headset Jack

The Good

  • Optimal thermal performance

Check on Amazon

This Cooler Master case has a great-looking all-gray design and offers amazing airflow to your PC components.

The case has a fully ventilated front panel and enough space to mount four 120mm fans or two 140mm ones if needed. There’s also great clearance space to support many of the most recent graphic cards.

Two USB ports and one headphone jack (with audio and mic capability) are easily accessible, right on the top front of the case.

Cable management is also made quite easy, with a lot of free space close to the motherboard, and rubber grommets available.

Although the airflow system is pointed out by many as the highlight of the product, some buyers point out that it can be a bit noisy, thus becoming a bit of a problem for people looking for an extremely quiet experience.

5) Cooler Master MasterBox Q300L Micro-ATX

Cooler Master MasterBox Q300L Micro-ATX Tower with Magnetic Design Dust Filter, Transparent Acrylic Side Panel, Adjustable I/O & Fully Ventilated Airflow, Black (MCB-Q300L-KANN-S00)

The Good

  • Good space for cable management
  • Magnetic dust filters
  • Although Micro-ATX, supports ATX power supply

The Bad

  • Acrylic side panel could be more resistant

Check on Amazon

The second Cooler Master option on the list has great airflow and a dust filtering feature that will help to keep your case clean.

The case fits two types of motherboards, Micro-ATX and Mini-ITX but it can fit a power supply up to a standard size (ATX). It comes with a built-in standard 120mm fan in the back and has plenty of space for the installation of extra ones.

The dust filters will help you to keep computer components clean, extending product life and also attenuating the sound of the fans.

The case has good space to work with, especially around the motherboard, facilitating wiring and positioning of fans around that particular area.

There are complaints regarding the fragility of the acrylic side panel. Some buyers claim that the panel can come scratched upon arrival. Others state that the cleaning process (using proper cloths) can easily scratch the panel too.

6) Corsair 110Q Quiet ATX Case

Corsair 110Q Mid-Tower Quiet ATX Case, Black, Solid, Standard

The Good

  • Very silent
  • Good cable management
  • Compatible with motherboards of size ATX or smaller
  • Removable dust filters

The Bad

  • Gets heated easily
  • Doesn’t have transparent side panel

Check on Amazon

This Corsair case option is built as a silent computer case and has great cable management.

The case’s design is very simplistic and not particularly attractive. There’s no presence of acrylic or tempered glass side panel. However, it compensates in other ways.

It fits up to four 120mm fans or two 140mm ones, with support available for up to four drivers. One 120mm fan is already included. There are also removable dust filters on the floor and in the front of the case, helping to keep your components clean.

The main problem pointed out by buyers regarding the case it’s the poor airflow. The case itself doesn’t have that much free space and vents on the top are absent. Both of these factors complicate the cooling process.

We’d recommend not pushing your computer too far when using this particular case, or removing the front off in order to facilitate the cooling of main components (if that doesn’t bother your experience, obviously).

7) Thermaltake S100 Tempered Glass Micro-ATX Computer Case

Thermaltake S100 Tempered Glass Snow Edition Micro-ATX mini-Tower Computer Case with 120mm Rear Fan Pre-Installed CA-1Q9-00S6WN-00, White

The Good

  • Great airflow
  • PSU cover
  • Dust filters
  • Fits up to five 120mm fans

The Bad

  • Very big for a Micro-ATX case

Check on Amazon

This Thermaltake case is available in two colors (black or white), has some great airflow, and has a beautiful 4mm tempered glass side panel.

The product definitely stands out for its great airflow capacity. Space is really well distributed and there’s room for up to five 120mm fans (with one already included in the rear).

There’s also a PSU cover with a ventilated design that improves the airflow and helps to hide cables. Dust filters are located both on the top and on the basis of the chassis, helping to keep things clean and avoiding manual cleaning for a while.

Some buyers negatively point out the case’s big size. Although being a Micro-ATX, it’s almost the size of a standard ATX. That may not be a problem for some, but it is for people expecting a smaller case to fit just right with their Mini-ATX setup, or people that are not willing to buy extra (and longer) cables, which could be required in some situations.

8) Cooler Master MasterBox NR600 ATX Case

Cooler Master MasterBox NR600 ATX Mid-Tower with Front Mesh Ventilation, Minimal Design, Tempered Glass Side Panel and Single Headset Jack

The Good

  • Fits up to 6 fans
  • Optimal thermal performance
  • Compatible with motherboards of size ATX or smaller

The Bad

  • Complicated mounting of components

Check on Amazon

Another Cooler Master option, this case has great airflow and fits up to 6 cooling fans.

There’s space here for up to 6 fans: four 120mm fans on the sides and two 140mm ones on the top. The amount of space available is one of the propellers of the case’s great airflow system.

The graphic cards’ support is up to 410mm and supports all the latest cards. The headphone jack, USB ports, and power/off button are located on the top and front of the case, which can be a downer for some.

The cabling system is very intuitive, with long rubber grommets and plenty of space available behind the motherboard.

There’s a considerable number of complaints regarding the number of rivets in the case, which makes the mounting of components such as HDDs and cooling fans extremely difficult since the user needs the assistance of a screwdriver to properly attach the items to the case.

9) Cylon White RGB Mid Tower Computer Case

Cylon White RGB Mid Tower Computer Case

The Good

  • Very elegant design
  • Space for up to 8 fans
  • Removable PSU dust filter
  • Compatible with motherboards of size ATX or smaller

The Bad

  • Made out of inconsistent material

Check on Amazon

This Cylon white case has an elegant design and plenty of space for the mounting of cooling fans.

The product has an acrylic side panel and the front panel has a backlash LED with 13 lighting modes available, all fitting particularly well with the case’s predominant white color.

The case comes with one 120mm fan included in the rear and has space for five 120mm fans, or one 120mm fan plus two 140mm ones. It supports high-end graphic cards up to 371mm.

There’s also a removable PSU dust filter that keeps things clean and diminishes the necessity of constant manual cleaning.

On the frontal top of the case, there is one 3.0 USB port, two 2.0 USB ports, the power/off button, and one mic and one headphone entry.

It’s a slightly more affordable option on the list, but we must point out that there are common complaints regarding this case’s material. Buyers claim that the material resembles hard plastic and is too light and fragile, making it less durable and resistant.

10) Apevia ENZO-PK Mid Tower Gaming Case

Apevia ENZO-PK Mid Tower Gaming Case with 1 x Tempered Glass Panel, Top USB3.0/USB2.0/Audio Ports, 1 x Black/White Fan, Pink Frame

The Good

  • Available in three colors (black, white, pink)
  • Compatible with motherboards of size ATX or smaller
  • Space for up to 8 fans

The Bad

  • Made out of fragile metal
  • Important entries located on the back

Check on Amazon

This Apevia case is available in three different colors, including pink, which is an extremely rare one for computer cases. It also has one tempered glass side panel.

There’s space for up to eight cooling fans here: six 120mm ones and two 140mm ones on the top of the case, with one 120mm fan already included in the rear. The support for video cards is up to 350mm in length.

There’s one USB 3.0 port, two USB 2.0 ports, a mic, and an SPK entry available, however, they are all located in the back of the case, as well as the power/off button.

Another common complaint regarding the case is the fragile metal which is made out of. Buyers find it difficult not to damage or bend the metal while removing the front and back panels of the case.

How to Choose the Right PC Case

Size

Looks isn’t everything, folks. The first thing you really should pay attention to when buying your case it’s the size (or “form factor”). You have to make sure that the case you’re picking has enough room to fit all the main components of your computer.

You’ll go by the motherboard’s size to get an answer. Motherboards have the same measurement standard as computer cases. The sizes you can find in this standard are:

  • E-ATX – “Full Tower” (Large)
  • ATX – “Mid Tower” (Standard)
  • Micro-ATX (Small)
  • Mini-ITX (Very small)

So, if the case matches the size of the motherboard, it should fit every other main component of the computer, unless you’re working with bigger (or more numerous) components than usual.

However, in some cases, a person could choose to buy a computer case bigger than the one necessary to fit the motherboard. That usually happens when people want to provide extra room for the main components to breathe – which improves performance – or acquire extra space to install more GPUs or computer memory.

But there are budget implications involved. The bigger the case, the more expensive they get, with E-ATX cases, in particular, having a very spicy price.

Ventilation

There’s a lot going on inside that case once you place all the components. With a lot of processes happening at the same time, it’s fairly common that some of the components (most of the time, the hardware) heat up. But it’s also the case’s job to cool them down.

The cooling process happens with the help of the case’s fans and vents. The number and placement of these in each computer case vary according to the model and size of it. However, it’s important that they always have solid quality, since computer overheating can cause major hiccups to your experience.

Noise

Noise is also a considerable factor. If you like a very quiet environment when using your computer, then maybe you’d like to go for silent cases.

These cases come with special additions that manage to reduce noise production. These extras often include covered vents, rubber mounts for the internal fans, absorption foam padding, etc.

However, it’s important to mention that noise reduction comes with a cost. These features occupy extra space and often leave the case more susceptible to overheating. Considering this, it’s always best to check how the silent case you’re considering buying deals with heating problems.

There are also standard minimalist cases that don’t tend to make a lot of noise due to their optimized venting and ventilation systems.

Structure

A good case must have everything in the right place. They gotta have a tight structure that makes it easy to carry and also to mount or dismount.

Practicality is also important. It’s better that the power button is within good reach, as well as the USB ports and headphone jack, preferably accompanied by an easy-to-open disc drive (if that’s your thing).

The cabling should also be taken into account, and buyers should consider giving preference to cases with well-organized and fairly sized cables that don’t turn the installation/wiring process into a nightmare.
